In Uttar Pradesh, the power supply has collapsed due to the strike of the employees. In many cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi and Meerut, a tremendous crisis arose on the very first day of the strike. Industrial production came to a standstill in factories in Gorakhpur and Kanpur. About one-fourth of the capital Lucknow remained in the grip of power crisis. At the same time, the government has taken a tough stand regarding the strike. Many workers who did not cooperate in restoring the power supply were sacked. Also, FIR was lodged against the agencies.
