Bangladesh vs Scotland: In a very exciting match played in Al Emirates, Scotland scored 140 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 9 wickets, after which Bangladesh was allowed to make 134 runs for 7 wickets. Chris Greaves scored 45 runs for the team. He hit 4 fours and 2 sixes in 28 balls. Mark Watt and Greaves added 51 runs for the 7th wicket. This partnership was broken by Taskin Ahmed and Watt was caught by Soumya Sarkar

Watt hit 2 fours in 17 balls. When Greaves returned to the pavilion on the second ball of the last over of the innings, the team’s score was 131 runs. Mustafizur Rahman bowled Josh Davy (8) on the next ball of this over. For Bangladesh, Mehdi Hasan took 3 wickets for just 19 runs in 4 overs while Mustafizur and Shakib Al Hasan got 2 wickets each.

Openers Gave Disappointing start to Bangladesh

Chasing the target of 141 runs, Bangladesh started poorly and on the third ball of the second over of the innings, Soumya Sarkar (5) was sent to the pavilion by Davy. In the fourth over, Liton Das was caught by Bradley Wheal in the hands of Munsey and the team’s score became 18 runs for 2 wickets.

Experienced Duo Couldn’t Continue

Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim took over Bangladesh and shared a 47-run partnership for the third wicket. Shakib returned to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs off 28 balls with the help of 1 four.

Mushfiqur was bowled by Greaves on the very first ball of the 14th over. He scored 38 runs in his innings of 36 balls with the help of 1 four and 2 sixes. Captain Mahmudullah contributed 23 and Afif Hossain contributed 18 runs.

24 Runs Was Needed in Last Over

Bangladesh needed 32 runs to win in the last two overs. Nurul Hasan (2) was caught by McLeod on the second ball of the 19th over of the wheel’s innings. Mahmudullah hit a six on the very next ball, but on the 5th ball he too was caught by McLeod. 24 runs were needed to win in the last over but only 17 runs could be scored. For Scotland, Wheel took 3 wickets while Greaves got 2 wickets. Josh Davy and Mark Watt also took 1-1 wickets in their name.

Prior this match Bangladesh were looking very strong with their recent performances in T20 matches but Scotland came good in their 1 st match of the Tournament and beat Bangladesh.
