Knife Attack at Muslim Center in Lisbon

A man attacked people with a knife at the Islamic Center in Lisbon, capital of Portugal. Two people died and many others were injured in this. Portuguese officials said police who arrived at the scene overpowered the suspect and took him into custody. Officials said police received a call about an attack on the center around 11 a.m. (local time) on Tuesday. The police then reached the spot, where they were confronted by the assailant, who was carrying a large knife.
According to media reports, two women employees of Ismaili Center, who were 49 and 24 years old, have died in this attack. A police spokesman said that the official identity of the dead has not been established at the moment. He said that we suspect that it is a terrorist attack. Local media reported that the attacker is an Afghan refugee and a father of three children.
At the same time, Prime Minister of Portugal Antonio Costa has condemned the attack on the Islamic Center. He tweeted his condolences and solidarity with the families of the victims and the Ismaili community in Portugal. Costa said it was too early to speculate about the motive behind the attack.
