A major accident took place in Maharashtra’s Nagpur, where five people drowned in a lake while trying to save each other on Sunday evening. Police said a group of eight youths had gone for a picnic at the lake located in Hingna area, but they changed their mind and some youths went to bathe in the lake. In which five people drowned.

Giving information about the incident, an official said that eight friends were walking on the banks of Jilpi Lake when some of them decided to enter the water. After seeing that a member of the group was scrambling to swim, the others tried to save him, but five of them drowned.

He said that after the police got information about the incident, a search operation was started with the help of local divers. The bodies of Rishikesh Parade (21), Vaibhav Vaidya (20), Rahul Meshram (21), Nitin Kumbare (21) and Shantanu Armarkar (22) were pulled out of the water at around 10 pm, he said. A case of accidental death has been registered in it.
