ED has arrested three people from Mathura who duped foreign nationals. The three accused used to run fake call centers in Mathura. The accused were duping people of countries like America, Canada and Philippines etc. by luring them with cheap loans.
gang mastermind arrested
Giving information about the case, the agency said on Saturday that the gang’s mastermind Shahnawaz Ahmed Jilan has been arrested. Shahnawaz used to cheat by the name of David Morrison. Apart from this, Vipin Kumar Sharma and Viraj Singh Kuntal have also been arrested, who used to support Shahnawaz. The accused were produced before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court, which remanded them in ED custody till July 5.
ED raided 14 places
According to an official, the agency raided 14 places in Rajasthan’s Jaipur and Nagaur and Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Lucknow on June 27 in the case, after which all three could be arrested. During this, incriminating material was seized from two call centers of Mathura. Rs 90.37 lakh in cash was seized from both the call centres. The ED said that some people working in call centers had done a similar fake setup in Jaipur as well. Rajasthan Police has registered cases against them.
