Smriti Mandhana: On the back of Smriti Mandhana’s brilliant batting, India defeated Arch Rivals Pakistan in their second match of the Commonwealth Games. Mandhana, who entered the field to open, returned only after winning the Indian women’s team. He played a brilliant innings, defeating Pakistan by eight wickets with 38 balls to spare.

Smriti Mandhana batted in a fiery style from start to finish in the match against Pakistan at Edgbaston. Although she had a small target of 102 runs in front of her, but Mandhana’s eyes were on improving India’s net run rate, so she started batting aggressively from the beginning. The Indian women’s team opener scored an unbeaten 63 off 42 balls at a strike rate of 150, which included three sixes with eight fours. He attacked Pakistan like a one man army and on sight hoisted the victory flag on the Birmingham field. Expressing happiness over this stupendous victory, Smriti said that after this victory, she is confident of winning a medal in the Commonwealth Games.
Mandhana on the threshold of a special record
With this brilliant innings, Smriti Mandhana also reached the threshold of a special record. He scored 1999 runs for India as an opener. She will become the first female opener of the Indian team to score 2000 runs as an opener as soon as she scores one run. Apart from this, she will become the second Indian opener overall after Rohit Sharma to score another run. India has to play the next match against Barbados on August 3 in the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham, in which Smriti can create a new record.

After this innings of Mandhana, many former cricketers congratulated her on social media. Former India opener Virender Sehwag wrote, “Great performance by Indian girls. Good bowling by Indian bowlers first and then Smriti Mandhana showed her class. Great win.”
Former Test opener of the Indian team Wasim Jaffer wrote on social media, “Cannot be more effective than a win. Today the women’s team performed brilliantly. The bowlers took full money and Smriti Mandhana was terrific.
