Indian men’s hockey team started off with a thumping win against Ghana
Harmanpreet Singh scored three goals hat-trick
Jugraj Singh also scored two goals
CWG 2022: The Indian men’s hockey team made its debut in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games with a win. In the first match, the Indian team led by Manpreet Singh thrashed Ghana 11-0. All the players performed brilliantly for India in this match and kept the ball in their possession most of the time. Harmanpreet Singh scored a hat-trick and scored three goals. India will now play its second match against England on Monday, August 1.
The Indian hockey team revived the declining reputation of hockey in India by winning the bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics last year. Since then, there has been a lot of expectations from the Indian hockey teams, be it men or women. In the ongoing Commonwealth Games, both the teams have won their first-ever match. Considering the performance of both the teams for some time, they are also expected to medal in the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
India vs Ghana: Know what happened in this match?
India scored the first goal in their first match against Ghana in the first minute itself. This goal for India was scored by Abhishek in the penalty corner.
After scoring in the first minute of the first quarter, Harmanpreet Singh scored the second goal for India in the same quarter and made India’s lead 2-0.
Shamsher Singh scored the third goal for India in the first quarter. With this, India ended the first quarter with a 3-0 lead. For India, the first goal was scored by Abhishek and the second goal was scored by Harmanpreet Singh.
India scored a goal in the second quarter to extend the lead to 4-0. Akashdeep Singh scored this goal for India. India were leading 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Jugraj Singh scored the second goal of the second quarter and his first goal of the match to give India a 5-0 lead in the ongoing match against Ghana.
India took a 5-0 lead till two quarters i.e. half time. India scored three goals in the first quarter and two in the second quarter. Abhishek, Harmanpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Jugraj Singh and Akashdeep Singh scored a goal each for India.
Harmanpreet Singh then scored his second goal of the match and his first goal in the third quarter to extend India’s lead to 6-0.
Neelkant Sharma scored his first goal of the match to extend India’s lead to 7-0, and moments later, Varun also scored and extended the lead to 8-0.
Jugraj Singh scored the second goal of the match to extend India’s lead over Ghana to 9-0. It was India’s fourth goal in the third quarter.
Mandeep Singh opened the account of the goal in the fourth quarter and scored the 10th goal for India. With this, India took a 10-0 lead over Ghana.
Harmanpreet Singh scored 11th and third goal of his match for India. In the 52nd minute, India took an 11-0 lead over Ghana.
